Waxahachie
A stone’s throw from the Dallas Metroplex, Waxahachie is a vibrant, authentic small town Texas community and the “Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas!” Each summer, our city’s historic streets are lined with hundreds of beautiful pink crape myrtles in full bloom, celebrated by the Crape Myrtle Festival in July. And don‘t miss the Texas Country Reporter Festival in October and December holiday activities like the Candlelight Tour of Homes and Bethlehem Revisited. Waxahachie is also the Movie Capital of Texas, with over thirty motion pictures and three Academy Award films. Waxahachie is one of only ten cities in Texas to receive the First Lady’s Texas Treasures Award!
Waxahachie is served by the Waxahachie Independent School District (WISD), which currently has eight elementary campuses, three middle school campuses, and two high schools. WISD aims to offer all of its students a well-rounded education and offers advanced-placement and dual-credit courses, as well as varied career and technology courses. Several of the school’s programs have achieved national recognition in recent years. Southwestern Assemblies of God University, a private, four-year university affiliated with the Assemblies of God, offers accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Waxahachie is in Ellis County and is one of the best places to live in Texas. Living in Waxahachie offers residents a dense suburban feel and most residents own their homes. So many families and young professionals call Waxahachie home!
